The Cohort Model
Can churches or other organizations run this cirriculum in location or within their own programing?
How does the Cohort Model work at KS&S?
Yes! Through the Cohort model!
In The Cohort Model, a group of people start, continue, and complete their educational process together as a team. Seen to work in a myriad of business environments (with an MBA program as an example), a group of colleagues for a company embark on the educational journey together and use their paper writing and project assignments to solve critical issues for their employer. Frequently the employer subsidizes the education in exchange for the work product produced. Though the application may be different in a church than in a business, the benefits are the same.
At The Kingdom School, relationships are an essential core value of who we are and what we do. The relationship and bond created between brothers and sisters, which can then be expanded into concentric circles of committed kingdom relationships, is a vital part of our educational process.
Every starting class in both the School and the Seminary is built upon this relational model. The premise is that people who learn together, over time, become committed to one another’s destiny and the ultimate manifestation of The Kingdom through one another’s lives, work, and ministry.
Increased COMMITMENT = Increased SUCCESS = Increased MANIFESTATION
How does this apply to multiple locations?
For TKS&S, the development of a pocket of educational relationships becomes the ideal framework for kingdom apprehension.
- The leadership of the organization would collaborate with the leadership of TKS&S to align goals, purposes & outcomes. If mutually agreed, a Memorandum of understanding between the parties would be established.
- Cohort participants would be identified, and would be awarded 20% discounted tuition (for as long as they remain in the cohort.)
- A cohort leader would be assigned by the church or organization to coordinate the educational logistics at the location. That individual receives an additional 20% tuition discount. They also directly interface with TKS&S personnel for the launch & facilitation of the program.
- The group then journeys together through the completion of their certification or degree program, ultimately graduating together.
In church or ministry contexts, this can take the form of a small group, a discipleship group, church staff or a Sunday school class.
The students can meet at whatever interval is agreeable (weekly, monthly or at designated intervals) for discussion, reviews, support and encouragement.
The delivery system is the same as every other learning cohort in TKS&S, with weekly assignments completed by each student. The difference lies in how much of the interaction takes place locally among the students. For example, ‘Discussion Questions’ and ‘Participation’ can take place locally, rather that virtually through the student portal, if so desired.
Though students are journeying the educational path together, they are not participating in collective (group) work unless called for in a particular assignment. Said another way, students are performing their own individual work, and submitting their own individual assignments, even though they are walking the educational path together.
What does it look like?
- If the cohort is virtual and attends live HS class via zoom, they can have a live virtual workshop conducted by a TA at the same time as the class workshops.
- If the cohort watches class video, they can schedule a weekly workshop live zoom with a TA, if available.
- If the cohort watches class video, they can conduct their own workshop in their own setting with a qualified leader.
Cohort Workshops
Workshops are key to our model. There are 3 possible strategies:
The Benefits of TCM
- Program completion rates are substantially higher when TCM is in highly relational, and occurs at origin.
- Student satisfaction is greatly improved when students feel a sense of camaraderie and connection with others. TCM accomplishes this.
- Organizational objectives can be more easily accomplished when people are working together in synergy with one another.
- Organizational unity can be more easily fostered when groups of individuals are journeying a specific path together.
- Ultimatley, The King and The Kingdom experience greater manifestation as more people apprehend together that for which they have been specifically apprehended. This can be true for the School as people understand, receive, and operate in the gifts and operations of the Spirit, or for the Seminary, as individuals create powerful Kingdom ministry, or discover powerful Kingdom Theology in the advancement of The Kingdom in the earth.
